3d Printer-A Printer that Prints out 3D Objects

Ever Looked at a Really Cool Gadget on Your Computer Screen and Thought How cool it would be to just Get it Out of the Computer and have it.Well,If you have,Your Dream has come true. The Object that you have been looking at and Drooling, could be yours,Instantly. What you have to do is just print it.Yes.....let me repeat...Print it.Print the object on your screen on a special Printer seen in the Pic Above,Beside the P.C.

Believe it or not, three-dimensional printers already exist. Using a process known as stereolithography, companies such as Z Corporation and Objet Geometries sell printers that create 3-D models by depositing and hardening layer after layer of smart polymers.

Researchers at Berkeley in 2003 took the idea a step further, proposing a machine that integrated the printing of circuits into the process, thus potentially creating a fully formed piece of electronics (e.g., a remote control, a light bulb) all at once. The above Seen Printer Can Create a fully Formed electronic Device With all different Kinds Of Materials.

For Those who Have Been Drooling At this Idea,I Must Tell you that the the Cost of The Printer Is Higher that Anything You Might want to Print out. Industrial machines cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. However, a "moderately priced" desktop version exists as well. Japanese company Autostrade produces a $25,000 machine called the E-Darts Solid Printer that looks like a cross between a microwave and an Easy Bake Oven.(In The Top Pic). And Even If you Have Enough Money to Buy It,You Would Need to Have The Actual Blue Prints Of the Device to Print It Out.Unless You Want to Print Out a Razor or a Plastic Box.

Well,Even if the Most Of us Can't Even Think Of Buying This Ultra Cool Product,We can Certainly Dream About it Being Available For Us In a Near Future at Reduced Prices.Think About A Future where You will no longer need to go to a Store to Buy a T.V. Or a Cell phone.Just Order Online ,Get The Coded Blueprints Provided By the Manufacturer (It Should Be Coded Such that it can be used only Once),And Print It Out.Our Own Production Plant.Looks Like This Cool Device Could Put The Assembly Workers Out Of Business.Although Don't Worry,It's Definitely Not Gonna Happen In the Near Future.

The idea of a hybrid printer which prints both physical form and electronic function dates back well before Sirringhaus successful inkjet printing of a transistor in 2000, so well before your quoted 2003 date.

The first functional examples of hybrid machines appeared in labs around 2004 possibly earlier. I believe that a group at Sandia National Laboratories had a system combining Direct write and SLA back in 2004.

Inkjet printing of electronics using colloid solutions is fairly advanced and resolutions below 1 micrometre have been reported. Inkjets are probably the most interesting technology because they provide compositional as well as geometric freedom.

The field is a lot more advanced than most people realise.

If you are interested, I did a talk on this back at EuroFoo '04 and again at Euro Oscon'06

Also, regarding price you might want to take a peek at DeskTop Factory which promises a 3D printer for $4995.

Desktop Factory let half of their employees go a week a half ago. This includes the lead engineers on the project, keeping only three lower salary technicians. They have a great vision however I don't think the money is there to develop it.
